HC Deb 11 April 1918 vol 104 c1643
Mr. DILLON

I should like to ask the Leader of the House as to the cause of the delay in presenting the Report of the Irish Convention? The Prime Minister promised that it should be in our hands yesterday morning, and it is not yet in the Vote Office. Further, I should like to ask whether it is true that a secret instruction has been issued to all the Press in the United Kingdom that the prohibition of the discussion of the proceedings of the Convention is to be maintained?

Mr. BONAR LAW

If anything of the kind mentioned last in the hon. Member's question has happened, I am not aware of it. I do not think so. As regards the printing of the reports the delay is due to the fact that they are being printed in Dublin. We are doing everything in our power to hasten the printing.

Mr. DEVLIN

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that these reports have been in type for over a week?

Mr. BONAR LAW

What I said — if I may repeat it — is strictly accurate. I made inquiry about it myself. I do not say it is because the printing is being done in Dublin, but because of the general difficulties of getting these matters out at present. We have done everything in our power to hasten the printing.

Mr. T. M. HEALY

The Dublin printers are all Papist cowards!
