It shall be the duty of the registration officer, without any claim being made for the purpose, to place on the absent voters' list any person registered as a naval or military voter, unless

  1. (a) that person before the fifteenth day of February as respects the spring register, and the fifteenth day of August as respects the autumn register, gives notice to the registration officer that he does not desire to be placed upon that list or
  2. (b) that person is registered, in pursuance of an application to the registration officer, for the constituency in which he has been serving or in which he has an actual residence qualification.

Amendments made: In paragraph (b), leave out the words "an application to the registration officer," and insert instead thereof the words "a claim for the purpose."
