HC Deb 19 November 1917 vol 99 c864
1. Mr. LYNCH

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to cases where railway directorships have been given to officials on their retirement from Government service; and whether he will take steps calculated to put an end to the practice?

Mr. WARDLE

I am aware that there have been instances where Government officials have after retirement from the public service accepted railway directorships, but I see no reason, even if it were in my power to do so, to adopt the suggestion made by the hon. Member.
