HC Deb 30 March 1917 vol 92 cc767-8
54. Mr. FIELD

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he will set up an equitable manner of a graduated scale of war bonus and temporary increase of wages to employes of the Army Ordnance Department in the city of Dublin, seeing that inequality exists under the existing arrangements where employés of one, two, and three years' and even one month's service receive the same rates as those employed for many years?

Mr. FORSTER

I understand the hon. Member to suggest that all employes should receive wages graduated according to length of service, irrespective of efficiency or character of work performed. This system, as applied to labour, was abandoned many years ago, and I can sold out no hope of its reintroduction.
