HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 91 c1709
63. Mr. LUNDON

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) if his attention has been called to the prices which are being charged by merchants for seed oats; and will steps be taken to see that the already heavily handicapped Irish farmer will not be required to pay exorbitant prices for the seeds he may require?

Mr. DUKE

Having regard to the value of oats for feeding purposes and to high transit charges the Department of Agriculture are of opinion that the prices charged for seed oats cainnot be regarded as exorbitant.
