HC Deb 15 March 1917 vol 91 cc1262-3
24. Mr. BYRNE

asked if the representatives of the Dublin trade unions and labour organisations were consulted in reference to the working of the National Service scheme in Ireland; who is to be the Director, and what his powers will be; and if the labour unions will be represented on the Advisory Committee?

Mr. DUKE

The consultations which have taken place heretofore have been with regard to the general question of the best means of rendering the National Service scheme beneficial in Ireland. The mode and details of operation will be discussed with all interests which are affected. I hope to be able to answer as to the Director and his duties on an early day.
