HC Deb 15 March 1917 vol 91 cc1256-7
23. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what are the Government proposals to safeguard the food supply of the Irish people; and if he will prevent the further exportation of foodstuffs from Ireland?

Mr. DUKE

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to the question he addressed to the President of the Board of Agriculture on Monday.

Mr. BYRNE

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware that the reply referred to states that food may be exported under licence, and that this question asks that that should cease?

Mr. DUKE

The answer which was given on Monday dealt fully with the procedure.

Mr. BYRNE

Owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the light hon. Gentleman's reply. I beg to give notice that I shall raise the matter to-night on the Adjournment.

Mr. DUKE

I hope that the hon. Gentleman will choose a later night—say Monday or Tuesday.

Mr. BYRNE

Tuesday night.
