HC Deb 07 March 1917 vol 91 c390
86. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the German courts of appeal, both at Hamburg and Kiel, have decided that reinsurance treaties with British companies were void as from the date of War; whether the French Government last month brought in a Bill declaring all such contracts with enemy companies void as from the date of War; and what steps he proposes to take to enforce a like policy here?

Mr. ROBERTS

My attention has been called to the German decisions and to the French Government Bill to which the hon. Member refers. I am making inquiries as to the need for similar legislation in this country.
