HC Deb 07 March 1917 vol 91 cc383-4
52 and 53. Mr. BILLING

asked the Prime Minister (1) if he will introduce some legislative measures to deny the privilege of voting on Supplies in this House to all Members of Parliament who, either directly or indirectly, are profiting by Government contracts; and (2) if he will call on Members of this House to make a statement as to any shareholdings they or their nominees may have held in enemy commercial or munition undertakings prior to the outbreak of this War, and what arrangements or transfers they have effected since that date?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I do not think that any action of the nature indicated by the hon. Member is necessary.

Mr. BILLING

Can the right hon. Gentleman not state whether a Member of this House having Government contracts is permitted to vote?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I think not, but I would like notice.

Mr. BILLING

If he has "Limited" after his name, is he allowed to do it?
