HC Deb 06 March 1917 vol 91 cc186-7
13. Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked on what grounds Captain Arthur L. Tooze, of the 17th Middlesex, was gazetted out of the Army; whether the medical officer of his regiment had previously reported upon him for service at the front; whether Colonel Fenwick, his late commanding officer, has given him a testimonial expressly recommending him for employment as a lieutenant-instructor of troops; and for what reasons the military authorities are now seeking to compel him to re turn to the Service as a private?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given yesterday to the hon. Member for Stockport.

Mr. SCOTT

Are proceedings still being taken to force this man into the Army as a private?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I do not know. I can only refer my hon. Friend to the statement I made in answer to the hon. Member for Enfield (Major Newman) in the Debate last night.
