§ 56. Sir J. D. REESasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the decision to allow a discount of 50 per cent. on the premiums for insurance against aircraft and bombardment risks as from 17th February operates to the manifest disadvantage of those in whose case insurances effected after the air raid of January, 1916, fell to be renewed in the early part of the current month; and whether he will arrange that a rebate shall be allowed of 50 per cent. on the unexpired portion, as from the 17th instant, of all such premiums paid prior to that date?
Mr. ROBERTSMy right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on the 27th February to my hon. Friend the Member for Leigh, of which I am sending him a copy. I am sorry that it is not possible to make the concession he desires.
