asked the Secretary of State for India whether the majority of the British officers of the Regular Army resident in India who are forced to pay ad valorem, duty on tobacco sent from home, which has already paid high duties in this country, are officers of the new Army invalided from Mesopotamia and generally dependent on their pay?

I am unable to answer the first part of the question. As regards the latter part, I invite the hon. Member to refer to my reply to his question of the 21st. Tobacco sent from this country should be obtained from bond, and in that case no question of double duty arises?
