HC Deb 25 June 1917 vol 95 c8
41. Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been called to resolutions of the dairymen's associations in Scotland to the effect that they could not be responsible for the supply of milk to the people in the towns unless they were guaranteed adequate exemption of their male employés from military service; and what action he proposes to take to prevent them taking so many men from this trade?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)

I have received a resolution by the Glasgow and District Dairymen's Association to the effect stated in the question. Copies of the resolution have been communicated to the Reserved Occupations Committee for consideration, but the question of exemption in individual cases is, of course, one for the consideration of the tribunals.
