§ 39. Mr. DUNCAN MILLARasked the Minister of Munitions whether the Central Control Board (Liquor Traffic) have pre- 1953 pared a draft Regulation prohibiting the sale of spirits on Saturdays throughout Scotland; whether the issue of the Regulation has been opposed by the liquor trade in Scotland; and whether it is now proposed to abandon the proposal owing to the opposition of the trade?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYThe question has been under consideration, but no immediate action is contemplated.
§ Mr. MILLARMay I ask whether any representations have been received against this proposal from any other quarters than from the liquor trade?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYI could not say that without notice. The fact that representations against the proposal have been made by the liquor trade is no ground for supposing that is the reason for not going on with the Order.
§ Mr. MILLARThen may I take it the Order will be proceeded with if no objections are taken to it?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYMy answer was that no immediate action is contemplated, and I hope my hon. Friend will not confuse post hoc with propter hoc.
§ Mr. FLAVINMay I ask whether the working man in this country is not entitled to his glass of beer as the swell is entitled to his cigar?
§ Mr. SPEAKERThe hon. Member has not a monopoly of information.
