HC Deb 21 June 1917 vol 94 cc1970-1
105. Mr. GINNELL

asked on what grounds the military censor has prevented the publication in this country of the speech of Herr Erzberger, leader of the Centre Catholic party in the Reichstag, last winter in discussing the Entente reply to the German offer of peace, in which he said that the recognition of Ireland as an independent nation must be one of the terms of European peace; and, seeing that America and Russia on one side, Germany and Austria on the other, and all the self-governing Dominions now concur in this term, whether there is any longer a reason for preventing the publication of the speech in question?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am afraid that without further details it is impossible to identify the Press telegram which the hon. Member suggests has been stopped by the Censor.
