HC Deb 20 June 1917 vol 94 cc1787-8
45. Colonel C. LOWTHER

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the increase in air raids, the Government will immediately appoint a Committee to consider the question of reprisals?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer is w the negative. I can add nothing to what I said in the House on Monday as to the steps which the Government are taking, to deal with the situation.

Colonel LOWTHER

Is it not a fact that the gas attacks have diminished very much, in frequency and intensity since we-adopted the same tactics?

Mr. BONAR LAW

That is not my information. Our gas attacks have certainly developed in intensity.

Colonel LOWTHER

Is is not a fact that the gas attacks of the enemy have decreased on account of the development of our attacks?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I think not, but I should require notice of that question.

Colonel LOWTHER

Perhaps the right hon. Gentleman will inquire?
