HC Deb 18 June 1917 vol 94 c1405
Mr. ANDERSON

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the fact that a new Food Controller has at last been appointed and in view of the intense public indignation against high prices and profiteering which successive Governments have done little or nothing to arrest, he will at once grant facilities to this House for a discussion of the whole problem, so that the opinion of Parliament may be known to the Food Controller, and may help to guide him in shaping new policies?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Bonar Law)

The Food Controller has accepted the appointment with the intention of dealing with the difficulties referred to in the question and if after he has been given an opportunity of carrying out his policy there is a general desire for discussion a day will be given for the purpose.
