HC Deb 14 June 1917 vol 94 cc1101-2
8. Mr. KING

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been called to the letter alleged to have been written by Mr. de C. Findlay, offering £5,000 from the British Government to Adler Christensen for the capture of Sir (sic) Roger Casement; whether, seeing that facsimile copies of this letter have been circulated, he will say whether Adler Christensen is a British or a German subject; and whether the promised reward has been duly paid?

Lord R. CECIL

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative: Adler Christensen was neither a British nor a German subject. The circumstances of Casement's arrest involved no question of a reward, and the answer to the last part of the question is therefore in the negative.
