HC Deb 14 June 1917 vol 94 cc1128-9
66. Mr. STANTON

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the resolution in the name of the Glasgow Trades Council protesting against the action of members of the Seamen's and Firemen's Union in refusing to sail with the hon. Members for Leicester and West Bradford was carried by five members of the executive of the said trades council without notice to those whom they claimed to represent; and whether, in giving consideration to this resolution, he will bear this fact in mind and that the statement that the telegram conveying the resolution represented the views of 120,000 members is inaccurate?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I have no information on the subject.

Mr. SNOWDEN

Seeing that this question is based upon information that I convoyed to the House the other day, may I ask if the right hon. Gentleman is aware that last night a specially summoned meeting of the Glasgow Trades Council was held, and by 150 votes to 3 the action of the Seamen's Union was condemned, and a demand was made that facilities should be provided for the delegates to go to Russia?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I have said that I have no information.

Mr. SNOWDEN

You have now.
