HC Deb 13 June 1917 vol 94 c928
33. Mr. BLACK

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if he has received any complaints of the herd of rabbits and pheasants on the Chicksands Priory estate, Bedfordshire, and of damage to the corn crops in consequence; and whether he will take any steps to minimise the nuisance?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Richard Winfrey)

The Board have received representations from the Agricultural Executive Committee and have been in direct communication with the owner of the property. Orders have been made under the Defence of the Realm Act which empower the committee to enter on the land for the purpose of destroying pheasants or rabbits should it be proved that damage is being done to crops. I am asking for a further report from our district commissioner on the subject.
