HC Deb 13 June 1917 vol 94 c929
35. Sir JOHN SPEAR

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if he is aware that consequent on the breaking up of pasture land for tillage and the difficulty of obtaining feeding-stuffs, an unusual number of cattle will have to be slaughtered in the autumn; and will he cause cold storage accommodation to be provided so as to preserve the meat for winter and spring use, when scarcity will prevail, and thereby prevent extremes in prices?

Sir R. WINFREY

This matter is being dealt with by a special executive committee of the Departments concerned. My hon. Friend may rest assured that the question of cold storage accommodation for meat for winter and spring consumption is being dealt with.
