HC Deb 07 June 1917 vol 94 c341
133. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that constructional workers at Gretna were led to understand that when their work was completed they would be transferred to similar employment elsewhere; that although the Ministry of Munitions exhibited a poster to this effect such men are now being called to the Colours; and if he will state reasons for the violation of the pledge given?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am afraid I cannot answer this question in general terms, but, if my hon. Friend will give me particulars, I will have inquiries made.
