HC Deb 13 July 1917 vol 95 c2282
12. Mr. MILLAR

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether the attention of the Food Controller has been directed to the addition to the food supply of the country which could be obtained from grouse, partridges, and other game birds and also from ground game; and whether the Food Controller is prepared to take the necessary steps to secure an adequate supply of shot-gun ammunition for the shooting of winged and ground game for the purpose of increasing the national food supply?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The Food Controller will confer with the Minister of Munitions on this matter?

Mr. MILLAR

May I ask whether the Food Controller will make representations in order to secure that the largest amount of food for the country will be obtained from this source?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The Food Controller will be guided by all the arguments which are put before him.

Sir W. BEALE

May I ask whether, in considering this matter, special attention will be paid to the case of tenant farmers who get liberty from their landlords to cut down the game?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I will represent what the hon. Gentleman says to the Food Controller.
