HC Deb 06 July 1917 vol 95 c1474
9. Mr. COOTE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that workmen's short journey railway tickets, conveying men within a twelve miles radius of the city of Londonderry, which were formerly at a maximum of 1s. 4d. return, have lately been increased to 1s. 11d. return, while at the same time market tickets are issued on the various railways at reduced rates on market days to suit the convenience of those in better circumstances, and will he reconsider this question of railway facilities for workmen, who are already burdened by the cost of living?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. G. Roberts)

I am asking for the observations of the Irish Railway Executive Committee on this matter, and will communicate with the hon. Gentleman on receipt of their reply.
