HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 c1107
16. Mr. L. SMITH

asked tae Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Russian Government has unconditionally forbidden Russian troops to disembark at Athens; and what is the reason for this action?

Lord R. CECIL

The Russian Government have, for military reasons, requested that the Russian contingent disembarked at the Piræus may be withdrawn?

Mr. SMITH

Has the refusal to disembark been withdrawn?

Lord R. CECIL

I said the Russian Government have, for military reasons, requested that the Russian contingent disembarked at the Piræus may be withdrawn.

Mr. SMITH

Has the Noble Lord seen the statement of M. Kerensky that their reason for doing this was their refusal to identify themselves with the present foreign policy of the Allies?

Lord R. CECIL

I should like notice of that.
