HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 c1341
107. Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he will state how many Belgian refugees there are at present in Scotland and how many of these are of military age and of military fitness; and if he will say why such men should find shelter there, while Scotsmen, in many cases without military fitness, are sent to Belgium to keep back the enemy?

Mr. MUNRO

I am not in a position to give a precise answer to the first part of my hon. Friend's question. As regards the second part of the question, I must deprecate both the suggestions which it conveys as being, so far as I am aware, unfair to the military authorities and to our Allies.

Mr. WATT

No, no; it is quite true!
