HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 c1326
59. Sir JOHN SPEAR

asked the number of men who have joined the Navy and Army from the county of Devon since the commencement of the War who were previously engaged in agriculture?

Mr. MACPHERSON

As a large body of men, formerly engaged on agriculture, will have probably gone into the Navy and others into munition work, I am afraid that there is no reliable figure which I can give to my hon. Friend.
