HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 cc267-8
47. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Prime Minister if his attention has been drawn to the number of persons who are solely dependent on the 5s. disablement benefit paid under the National Insurance Act; and if he will say whether the Government can or will raise this amount by 2s. 6d., as in the case of the Old Age Pension Act?

Sir EDWIN CORNWALL (Comptroller of the Household)

The Prime Minister has asked me to reply to this question. No information is available as to the number of persons who are solely dependent on the disablement benefit under the National Insurance Act, and there is no money within the Act for increasing the statutory rate of benefit.
