HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 c277
Mr. JOHN REDMOND

I beg to ask the Leader of the House whether the Government can provide a day for the discussion of the Motion about Ireland standing in the name of my hon. Friend the Member for the Scotland Division of Liverpool (Mr. T. P. O'Connor). ["That, with a view to strengthening the hands of the Allies in achieving the recognition of the equal rights of all nations and the principle of nationality against the opposite German principle of military domination and government without the consent of the governed, it is essential without further delay to confer upon Ireland the free institutions long promised to her."]

Mr. BONAR LAW

Since the hon. and learned Gentleman wishes a day the Government will certainly give a day for this purpose, but it would be very inconvenient to interfere with the financial business this week, and I propose, if it meets with the approval of the hon. and learned Gentleman, to communicate with him, and I hope at the end of this week or the beginning of next week to name a day that will suit the general convenience.
