HC Deb 04 April 1917 vol 92 c1288
45. Major HILLS

asked the Prime Minister whether he will be in a position to make a statement on the Irish question before the Easter Adjournment?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I regret that I am not in a position to make any statement before the Adjournment, but I can assure the House that the subject is engaging the constant attention of the Government, and that there will be no avoidable delay.

57. Major NEWMAN

asked the Prime Minister whether, in any settlement of the Government of Ireland controversy which the Government may be able to put before the House, the principle of election by the method of proportional representation embodied in the Government of Ireland Act, 1914, will be preserved and extended?

Mr. BONAR LAW

This is a question of detail which I do not think could be usefully discussed now.
