HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 c540
39. Mr. ASHLEY

asked the Secretary of State for War how many German military officers and men have been taken prisoners by us; and how many of ours have been captured by the Germans?

According to the latest Returns there are 757 officers and 38,064 other ranks interned. In addition to these, there are those who have been repatriated to Germany, transferred to Switzerland, and died. A certain number have also been recently released on parole in South-West Africa. There are also some prisoners in France who have not yet been included in the Returns. In addition to these, there are 150 naval officers and 1,976 other ranks.
