Mr. O'SHAUGNESSYasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that complaints are being made by traders that there is a wastage of food due to the careless handling in transit of eggs coming to England from various parts of Ireland; and whether he will take steps to see that on the railways for which the Government is responsible this waste of food will be stopped?
§ Mr. PRETYMANI am aware of complaints on this subject. The whole matter is being considered by the Board of Trade, who are in communication with the railway companies about it, and also, I understand, by the Department of Agriculture in Ireland.
