HC Deb 16 November 1916 vol 87 c991
40. Mr. CULLINAN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that property owners are cutting down trees and exporting them wholesale and making no provision for selling firewood to the poor; whether he will take steps to prevent the wholesale clearance of timber; and, in the need for fuel, will he take immediate steps to have firewood made available for the poor at reasonable prices?

Mr. DUKE

As regards the cutting down of trees I would refer to my reply of 12th October to the question of the hon. Baronet the Member for Mid-Armagh. The suggestion in the last part of the question will be considered.
