HC Deb 16 November 1916 vol 87 c982
98. Mr. CURRIE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the desirability of utilising the specialised information regarding all branches of the drink trade which is at the disposal of its leading members by encouraging instead of discouraging the presence of such men on local licensing authorities, commissions of the peace, etc.; and whether the suggestion of such a policy will be submitted to the Central Control Board for its consideration as an emergency measure as well as considered by the Government as a permanent policy?

Mr. SAMUEL

I regret that I cannot agree that the course suggested is desirable.
