HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 cc756-7
10. Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can state, for each week from that ending 20th October, 1915, the number of arrivals and sailings at United Kingdom ports of steamers of all nationalities of over 300 tons net, together with the number and tonnage of vessels lost in each week through hostile action, differentiating between British, Allied, and neutral shipping?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I must refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Maidstone on the 8th instant, namely, that I am not able to add to the statements of losses which appear in the newspapers as they occur.

Mr. MIDDLEMORE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the return I ask for was issued week by week up to 20th October of last year?

Dr. MACNAMARA

And has since been discontinued?

Mr. MIDDLEMORE

And has since been discontinued.

Dr. MACNAMARA

I will look into that.
