§ 61. Mr. ANDERSONasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he can state the present allowance paid to 783 householders for the billeting of soldiers; at what date the rate of allowance was fixed and the rise in food prices that has since occurred; and, in view of the inadequate scale and the temptation to give the soldiers insufficient or inferior food, whether it is proposed to revise the billeting scale?
§ Mr. FORSTERI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave on this subject to the hon. Member for Blackpool on the 8th instant.
