HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 c795
93. Mr. E. DAVIS

asked the President of the Board of Trade, in view of the refusal of some employers to give work to disabled soldiers and sailors on the ground that the insurance companies refuse to insure them, whether he is aware that the Accident Offices' Association, representing fifty of the largest companies effecting accident insurance in this country, have unanimously decided not to make any in crease in the premium to be charged because disabled soldiers and sailors are engaged; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any action?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I am aware that the Accident Offices' Association have decided not to make any increase in the premium charged for employers' liability insurance, owing to the employment of disabled soldiers and sailors, and I hope that this course may be followed by the other offices transacting this class of business which are not members of the Accident Offices Association. In these circumstances I do not at present propose to take any action.
