HC Deb 31 May 1916 vol 82 c2687
36. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he is aware that a number of persons who had no connection whatsoever with those who participated in the recent rising were shot down in the streets of Dublin; if he is aware that as a result many families have lost their principal and in many cases their only support; if he is aware that the Government have admitted the desirability of compensating property owners for their losses; and if he will state whether the Government will take the necessary steps to compensate or pension the dependants of those non-combatants who had the misfortune of losing their lives?

Mr. TENNANT

There is a question on this matter addressed to my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister by the hon. Member for the College Green Division. Perhaps my hon. Friend will wait for the answer to be given to that question.
