HC Deb 31 May 1916 vol 82 cc2701-2
68. Mr. FITZPATRICK

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he is aware that William M'Evoy, an Irishman resident for about three years in Edinburgh, was conscripted, his appeal dismissed, and he was appointed to the 3rd battalion Black Watch labour company for service abroad; will he inquire if this man is in a delicate state of health and physically unfit for the work, which is likely to kill him; and will steps be taken to have him examined by an independent doctor, with a view to having him exempted from service?

Mr. TENNANT

I have called for a Report on this matter.
