HC Deb 18 May 1916 vol 82 c1648
41. Mr. C. WASON

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that there are many places in the Highlands and Islands where postal deliveries are extremely curtailed; and if he will consider the possibility of having a short wire of important news sent to offices where there is only a delivery once or twice a week?

The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Pike Pease)

The postal facilities are necessarily curtailed in many of the outlying islands, but each case is considered on its merits, and the hon. Member may be assured that facilities are only curtailed where this is really necessary. I regret that the hon. Member's suggestion to supplement restricted postal facilities by a telegraphic distribution of news cannot be accepted.
