HC Deb 16 March 1916 vol 80 cc2238-9
111. Mr. FALLE

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether recruiting for the Artists' Rifles is closed; and, if so, will he consider the advisabilty of allowing young men of eighteen to eighteen and a half whose age does not as yet allow them to join the service to join this corps and prepare themselves for future fighting?

Mr. TENNANT

Yes, Sir. The Artists' Rifles is now closed, as that unit is considerably over the required establishment. Young men of eighteen to eighteen and a half years of age, who have belonged to junior contingents of the Officers' Training Corps, are eligible to join senior contingents of the Officers' Training Corps at any of the recognised universities, and can there continue their training.
