HC Deb 14 March 1916 vol 80 c1891
71. Mr. ASHLEY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he proposes to issue part of the next War Loan in premium or bonus bonds of small amount?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. McKenna)

I am unable to anticipate the terms of future Government issues. I may say, however, that the Government have decided not to make an issue of the kind suggested, which would be contrary to the provisions of existing Statutes.

Mr. ASHLEY

Does the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that the Government is now owning race-horses?

Mr. McKENNA

Yes, the Government owns race-horses, but it is for entirely different purposes.
