HC Deb 29 June 1916 vol 83 cc1027-8
53. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention, as Secretary of State for War, has been called to the dissatisfaction concerning the inability of men to receive separation allowances for dependants; and whether he will issue an Army Order affording all men a fresh opportunity to obtain these whether they have failed to receive them through not applying in time, errors in not signing the proper form, or change in their dependants' circumstances arising since they joined?

Mr. FORSTER

The question of reviewing cases in which satisfactory reasons are given for the delay is under consideration.

73. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether Private Charles James Bartaby, who was wounded some time ago, has been discharged, in consequence of a nervous breakdown and because he is only fourteen years of age, without any pension or allowance?

Mr. FORSTER

I am having inquiry made into this case, and will acquaint my hon. Friend with the result. I may, however, say at once that pension would not be refused because the soldier was only fourteen years of age.
