HC Deb 29 June 1916 vol 83 cc1030-1
65. Mr. G. FABER

asked the Under-Secretary for War what is the maximum allowance per head per day of wine, spirits, and beer which German officers interned at Donington Hall are supplied with or permitted to purchase?

Mr. TENNANT

Light wines and beer only are allowed, and spirits are prohibited. I am making inquiry as to the system of control, but at the moment the commandant is away on sick leave.

Mr. FABER

If I put the question down again next week will the right hon. Gentleman be able to give me the information?

Mr. TENNANT

I hope so. I trust the hon. Gentleman will realise that the commandant is a very responsible person, in whom we have every confidence, and, unfortunately, he happens to be sick at the moment.

Mr. FABER

Who is the commandant?
