HC Deb 01 June 1916 vol 82 cc2897-8
115. Mr. GILBERT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he can state in what manner the Proclamation or notices will be issued to married men liable to serve under the Military Service Act, 1916; is it proposed to call up all married men liable under the Act on the appointed day, is it proposed to call up the men in age groups like the Derby attested system, or is it proposed to call men up in districts; and whether, in view of the anxiety of the men concerned on these points, he will give publicity at once by public notice to whatever scheme is decided on?

Mr. TENNANT

Proclamations are being posted announcing that all married men made liable for service by the Military Service Act, 1916 (Session 2) are liable to be called up for service on and after 24th June. They will receive notice papers in all cases where their registered addresses are correct. Those who do not receive notice papers are bound to report themselves to the nearest recruiting office not later than 24th July.
