§ 47. Mr. PETOasked the Prime Minister whether the Rev. Dr. John Clifford, of Westbourne Park Baptist Chapel, is in 1521 receipt of a pension of £200 a year from the Civil List; if so, for what services to the State was this pension granted; whether he is aware that Dr. John Clifford has recently been taking an active part in anti-recruiting and Stop-the-War propaganda, having been present and addressed a Stop-the-War conference at Devonshire House from which the Press representatives were excluded, and that his speech was afterwards reported in the "Labour Leader"; and, under these circumstances, will he consider the advisability of stopping any further expenditure of public money in the support of Dr. Clifford?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative.
