HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 c1508
44. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Home Secretary on what charge Mr. John O'Hanrihan, into whose case a special inquiry was promised, is still interned, notwithstanding his twenty-one years' service in the Army with the best record obtainable by his rank; whether he is aware of the purpose of a local policeman to injure him in his business; and, if the Government do not concur in that purpose, whether an immediate civil trial will be allowed, or Mr. O'Hanrihan's release?

Mr. SAMUEL

I have no information concerning Mr. John O'Hanrihan, but I presume the question relates to an Irish prisoner called John Hourihane, of Lick, Skibbereen. The grounds for his internment appear in the notice of the order which has been served upon him. His case is under consideration by the Advisory Committee, who will be able to judge of the accuracy of the allegation made in the question.
