HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 c1534
94. Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether any arrangements have been made whereby soldiers will be available in Scotland for the harvests this year; and, if so, will he say to whom application ought to be made by farmers?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Application should ordinarily be made by farmers to the Local Board of Trade Labour Exchange, but a farmer living near a military station may apply direct to a commanding officer for military labour required at short notice and for a period not exceeding six days.
