HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 cc1526-7
58. Mr. A. BRYCE

asked whether there sit on any of the Advisory Committees appointed in connection with the work of the Admiralty, War Office, or Ministry of Munitions, any person or persons interested directly or indirectly in the supply of the materials with which such Committees are concerned; and, if so, what are the names of such persons and upon what Committees do they sit?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not sure that I understand the drift of my hon. Friend's question. These Committees would be of but little use to the Departments concerned unless they contained persons whose knowledge of the matters referred to them is first-hand and absolutely up to date. I need hardly add that the Departments fully realise their responsibility to guard against any possible abuse of the system. I am not prepared to throw upon the Departments concerned the labour of collecting the information asked for in the last part of the question.

Mr. BRYCE

I beg to give notice that on an early occasion I will call attention to this matter. I do not think the answer is very satisfactory.
