HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 cc1500-1
21. Mr. ELLIS DAVIES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether B. Owen, No. 412221, 17th Cheshires, was passed by the Carnarvonshire county tribunal for service in the Navy, he being a fisherman; that Owen was refused on medical grounds, but that he was placed in a labour battalion; and whether, in view of the scarcity of food and in the national interests, he will take steps to have Owen released, even temporarily, so as to follow his occupation as a fisherman?

Mr. TENNANT

The War Office does not, of course, possess information of all the circumstances affecting individual soldiers. On the information given in my hon. Friend's question it appears that a mistake has been made, and inquiries will be made in the circumstances.
